Her Just Reward Premiere Contest Winner

Into our classroom she flowed Habit forming a sweeping swirl And rosily did her face glow beneath her wimple Pink and shining as though wafted straight from heaven Leaving us small kids of seven entranced By this gift of God who through our midst shone No sharp tones fixed us to our seats Just the sweet, soft sounds Of dear Sister Dorothea To us her words were the milk and honey Which into our minds poured And there have stayed even unto old age We had all fallen in love with her gentle radiance Holding us in its bright and kind embrace How much dismay to me did her passing bring, The final redemptive comfort That she had humbly earned her heavenly reward As the gift of God for her earthly dedication

My congratulations on your First Trophy gained at Poetry Soup, Denis. Thank you for sending it to my contest called "Nun", where the rules were that the nun in question had to be called Dorothea, a name meaning "gift of God", a phrase you were asked to put twice in the poem.
