Grand Canyon

Mighty canyon, you're grand it's true There is no other quite like you You, whose awesome beauty takes Half a state to wander through. From hither to your river snakes Whatever course she undertakes So reddish brown her muddy hue Freely flowing lake to lake. Oh mighty canyon is it true That little river sculptured you From north to south, and half the west Simply just from passing through? And, only through her wet caress Without a living thought expressed By chance alone, and not by will This majesty that you possess? My canyon friend, the truth revealed Your river there is just His quill And He who paints, is painting still.... And He who paints, is painting still. Timothy I. Brumley

It's true, the mighty finger of God, the master painter is the supreme artis. The languid flow of this verse is like a lullaby to dream on. Just lovely Tim, you too are a wonderful artist.

I really like the poem. It looks like the editors missed a grammatical error in the first paragraph. Shouldn’t it be “whose” instead of “who’s”?

Dear Timothy, An ode to the mighty Grand Canyon. Lovely and respectful..giving credit to our mighty creator who crafted it with his quill. The ending is the best part-yes, He is painting it still. Don't stop these great works. Keep on a writin'. Make "its" -it's at the beginning. High five! Well written! Gwendolen

Very uplifting write, Tim. God is the greatest painter. Always wanted to white water raft down the grand canyon. I'm away fishing. Have a wonderful Easter! Love, Carolyn

Hi Tim, a very unusual topic (as Andrea pointed out) I don't believe I've ever read a poem about grand canyon, but I have heard a lot about it, I much enjoyed your poem and it is a very good description of the photos and videos I've seen.

I have not seen many poems on Grand Canyon. But if I did, I bet this would be one of the best. Loved the way you worked in the little river and that splendid ending there.
