Esmerelda

She played by the rules, Even amongst a room full of fools. As the years past the rules did last. Kept her sane. Until she was ready to leave their game. Now the mask has peeled away, You see the person I truly am. Whilst I still wear a small hat in my hair, And to give a nod to convention, With a necklace of my own invention. The true me is exposed, Esmerelda the pirate, With a bump on her nose. Cigarette in hand, A glass of wine in repose!
