Black-eyed Susan

Black-eyed Susan, a Summer doll. Bright, yellow, with downturned petals. My childhood shadow skips along the trail with honeysuckle scent. Flow’rs stunning in a garden fete. Her sunrays smile in a vast field. Petals dance in a circle ‘round Susan’s sun-soaked, ebony eye.

This one is sweet in its simplicity Kim. Last time my lawn was mowed, the mower left the patches of susans and paintbrush, and even one single paintbrush. LOL I guess everyone loves a soft of beauty.

I have seen this flower and we have them in plenty in our place. But I didn't know that they are named 'Black eyed Susan'. How you have associated your childhood with these flowers and honey suckles! Congratulations Kim on your win.

Dear Kim, what a delightful celebration of summer's vibrant beauty. The bright yellow petals and the ebony eye transport me to a sun-drenched field, where childhood memories dance alongside the honeysuckle scent. Kim, your poetic voice captures the essence of nature's radiance, inviting us to bask in the warmth and joy of this seasonal splendor. It is a delightful and evocative piece that radiates pure joy. - Blessings, Daniel

This is a pretty poem of a pretty flower. The black-eyed Susan stands out amongst the other flowers. The reference to childhood adds to the charm. First experience molds the eye to beauty.

Black-Eyed Susans are one of my favorite summer flowers. You described them so eloquently and perfect. The last two lines are my favorites: Petals dance in a circle ‘round Susan’s sun-soaked, ebony eye. "Ebony eye" was brilliant and creative. Enjoy your evening, hugs, Sara
