A Tiny Trick

A Tiny Trick Raised my children well or at least I thought I did, Must have missed something, honesty may have slid. While my daughter waits to get a teaching position, She took two part time jobs to improve her disposition. At a learning centre, children’s reading problems she relieves. Serving at a restaurant, sometimes her customers she deceives. They order a small meal, she suggests an added dip or side, They’re appreciative little knowing the added cost is applied. You see her hourly rate is far less than basic minimum wage, She needs a good tip to make ends meet and fully engage, So the power of persuasion or suggestion, you take your pick Is it criminal or genius, not sure but she considers it a tiny trick. September 9, 2011 For Contest by Natalie :) “Genius or Criminal?” won 2nd place

I used to be a waitress years ago, Lee. And we are a tricky little group!! We smile and be as pleasant as we can be, all for that tip because the pay they give us is CRAP. More power to her. Congrats on your fine win.

Thanks Andrea, what you learn when you know a server... I had no idea waitresses did not make minimum wage, I think that's terrible. At least she is working because her two degrees are doing her no good. (Honours Bachelor of History and Bachelor of Education).

i think it's smart, though I can see why customers wouldn't like it. Still, she's just giving suggestions. it's their own stupidity if they order something and dont' know or ask if it costs more. congratulations on your win! awesome poem.

I do think this happens in most eating establishments!! Part of the training, perhaps, but I suppose the customer should be wiser, and know that nothing comes free of charge! :) Congrats on your win, Lee!!
