Traveling
Traveling on this unknown road
Each mile past seems oh so slow
No reference points to speed it up
No common ground to smooth the rough
Events unfold where I've never been
Time shows teeth like a Cheshire cat grin
Eventually I see, turns seem familiar
The way ahead becomes much clearer
Yes that sign post I've seen it before
Time marches faster I recall much more
The farther I travel, the more miles behind
Changes, expands my perception of time.
The day I finished That education chore
20 years past was before I'd been born
Naturally,I couldn't comprehend that far shore
Each day brings perspective to the measuring of time
Two decades to me now seems to fly by
Anxiously now I search the road ahead
Days speed down hill faster and faster yet
Understanding how momentum speeds up and gains
I dread the road ahead as autumn is changed
From the starting line of My warm Spring Home,
To the finish line where Icy winter winds moan.
