Trauma's mirror

Trauma met Trauma when I looked in the mirror. A pale reflection of me Of years of tragic, mournful moments That is the reflection I would see Trauma came face to face with true horror All I could see from the inside of me The reality of what I became That was what I would see Trauma reflecting something different. A look in the Word – a different mirror Truth reflects a small sparkle and Out of it grows a thin line of hope. A reflection of You not me Trauma reflects a distant reflection. One of what used to be. As I heal from Trauma's prickly grip. I can no longer see in trauma’s mirror. Of the me I used to be Trauma is gone, a new site I beget A smile from a different perspective. A healed heart holding onto your hand. I close my eyes, but too excited to see. I leap in faith, what will it be? As I look, now it’s really me, in the mirror I see! Chantelle Smith 30 April 2024
