There is a Darkness
There is a darkness
Between the trees tonight,
There is a darkness
And I have the light
Be it only a lantern
A flame and a wick,
It is enough to illuminate
Every branch and stick
A black veil ahead
And no moon in the sky,
All is silent around
Until some thing does cry
O, what is that thing?
Just what can it be?,
A spook, spectre or ghost
I have to go and see
One step, then one more
As curiosity overcomes fright,
For there is a darkness
And I have the light.
