The Shadows We Cast
We like to think we shine in the light
So incandescent, impossibly bright
But the shadows we cast...
And we believe we are stars in the night
Cleaving the shadows in everyone's sight
But the shadows we cast...
They fall behind us, we do not see them
Out of our vision, so we can deny
And tell ourselves that, well, it's not me, then.
How special we are to be living the lie.
We like to think we burn like the sun
Bright and eternal, our day's never done
But the shadows we cast...
