the summer rain was falling
but we did not care
that the air was a misty warm
and steamy like a enclosed terrarium
as we walked the street under our red umbrella
oh, sometimes we would stop and kiss
the rain at times like a flowing river
then, it was a gentle pitter patter
soon, we came to a little cafe
and taking a window table we watched
as people would rush past
trying to avoid the raindrops we loved
clouds swirled like gauzy curtains
it was quiet serenity just the two of us
in the cafe watching the summer rain
within a veiled haze
at last we left the cafe
to walk home in a gentle rain
but we did not care
we did not rush
and we stopped to kiss often along the way
we were
two lovers walking in
the summer rain . . .
