Raining In Summer

The heavens cry, the skies bellow and the earth satisfies its thirst Parched no more, summer grows mellow in this sudden surprise cloudburst Scorching sun has hidden his face from the reigning rain that's falling The earth has acquired a new grace since sweet showers came a calling A boisterous wind hits the trees as pitpat drizzle descends down Dripping rooftops cling with unease to wet houses set on the ground Lightning flashes extremely bright while thunder crashes with a boom Raindrops trickle, it's a delight to smell the petrichor perfume We soon glimpse a bit of heaven as the rain stops and all goes still A rainbow shines with hues seven And the summer rain gives a thrill.

Nothing like a good downpour to clear the air. Good luck in the contest Joanna. Tom

dearest Joanna--your poem was engaging for it truly captured the magnificence of summer's burst of rain. What wonderful alliterations and rhyme scheme. A true contest contender. I especially liked "Raindrops trickle, it's a delight to smell the petrichor perfume" Have a fabulous evening, hugs, Sara
