Pearl
Mother gave me a string of rare pearls
Passed through Maternal blood to every girl
Not all at once, but one at a time
When needed the most or by her design
In times of confusion, heart break, or joy
When days were quiet, nights dizzy with noise
Each precious pearl memorized
Passed to my daughters, this gift of the wise
Mother gave me a string of rare pearls
Such valuable wisdom in a man's world.
