Once In Your Life

Baudalaire advised us all to “get drunk!” I'd say, I prefer you encounter a skunk Be it two- or four-legged relish the smell The closest, I hope, you’ll come to hell.

I have smelled it from afar, and I never want to smell a skunk up close. If there are skunks in hell, I certainly do not want to get close to it.

I don't think I'll partake enough again to get drunk as a skunk.

That's part of the fun of poetry, there are different takes on the same words. I've encountered a few too many skunks in my life so far. A few of them right here in the soup who lift their tails and spew as if their stink comes from their mouths. LOL Couldn't help writing that.

I think Baudalaire must have been an alcoholic! I wouldn't recommend "drunk as a skunk," at all. I meant to say everyone should encounter a skunk at least one time in their life and experience the disgust of it. Reading it again, it came out like you read it!
