I love hummingbirds, though I only saw them in documentaries. And I adore lilies

Victor, a wonderful species to see in real life but somewhat elusive in that unless you put out a hummingbird feeder, you don't see them very much. Thanks for the visit. Sara K

we've finally seen our first hummingbird--now that our lilies have bloomed. This poem is as light as a gentle butterfly and a joy to read. Have a splendid evening, Sara K. Take care of yourself and your hubby, hugs, Sara B

Dear Sara, This tanka is not only rich in poetic brilliance, incorporating exceptional metaphors and imagery, but also effectively captures the essence of blooming daylilies and golden Asiatic lilies. The scene of a hummingbird sipping from a spring garden as the back door opens adds a layer of depth as the hummingbird attempts to enter.

Why thank you, Lasaad. I saw my first hummingbird of summer when I opened the door and he was drinking from the daylily and he came towards me like he was going to come in the house. Thanks for dropping by, Sara K..
