Alcoholic
Alcoholic
The first beer's on the house.
The rest will cost you dearly.
Goodbye family.
Goodbye dignity.
A rat crawls in my chest
demanding booze or death.
I stumble into church
and stumble in confession
and recite my sins and cry.
I stumble out the door
into the warmth of a bar
with friends who share
my bent view and
welcome me home.
