A Letter From the Cat
I slept on your bed through the night
guarding you, with all my might.
Bugs and thugs I kept at bay
'til the night had gone away.
Your protector I will be.
We are a team , you and me,
and when I'm purring you will know
its time to let all bad thoughts go.
I am the meditation for your soul.
Loving you, my only goal.
Pet my ears, converse with me.
There is no place I'd rather be.
We are a team, you and I,
and will be 'til the day I die.
But 'til then please do not forget
that I was more than just a pet.
A piece of me will always stay
in the part of your heart I stole away.
For I was loyal, I was true,
so when I pass please don't be blue.
But that time, its still far away.
So find my toys, I want to play.
Let's fill each day with a memory
for you to look back on, of you and me.
