Under The Sheets

Under the sheets lies abundance of dreams
Tucked away safely to visit each night
Laden in comfort, so warm and aware
Waiting for just the right time to sleep tight

Under the sheets where the world can be safe
Many a monster defenseless to see
Where we have hidden, escaped from the world
Waiting for sunlight again to be free

Under the sheets lies abundance of gas
Passed in the night, held securely inside
Waiting and hoping for time to erase
Lest, you know who, will think someone has died

Many things happen while under the sheets
Some we can talk about, some we should not
Still, it’s a marvelous place to reside
Satin or flannel, whatever you’ve got!

Your poem playfully yet thoughtfully explores the many layers of experience and emotion that occur "under the sheets." It blends humour with a sense of safety and comfort, capturing the multifaceted nature of this intimate space. It skilfully balances whimsy and warmth, creating a relatable and comforting depiction of life under the sheets. It invites readers to reflect on their own experiences and find humour and solace in the everyday moments that unfold in this intimate space.

--Some we can talk about, some we should not Still, it’s a marvelous place to reside--- so true and well said, Mike. You always shine in your signature style, my friend.

how creative and clever you are with this poem, Mike. I love how you took a creative turn mentioning 'gas.' Humorous indeed. You're so right, many things happen under the sheets. Well done...enjoy your evening, Sara
