Under the Apple Tree

Under the tree, I sit once again
A long decade it has been
Before, a girl, lost and alone
A woman into which she has grown

Memories flood me as I look back
Knowledge abundant, previously lack
So many changes, good and bad
So obvious when I think of what I had

No future in which to believe
No aspirations I wanted to achieve
Stuck in a circle, no way out
Until you showed me what life was about

Here, under the apple tree
A smile, when I think of you & me
So much of yourself that you've shared
Knowledge, zest, and love to show you cared

Different view of which the world is today
Your love showed me a better way
