If Only You Knew
Teenage Love – If Only You Knew
If only you knew . . .
that day and night I think of you.
But you are oblivious to how I feel.
Is this love I’m feeling even real?
If only you knew . . .
that I try to have you always in my view.
Whenever I’m at school, I watch you from the side.
Sometimes I daydream you’re my groom and I’m your bride.
If only you knew . . .
when school gets out, I wonder what you do.
I wonder about the places you might go,
and the things that you enjoy. How I’d love to know!
If only you knew . . .
how I yearn to touch you; you don’t have a clue.
Those warm brown eyes; your handsome face.
Every inch of it, with my fingers I would trace.
If only you knew . . .
when I’m in your neighborhood, I pass through,
hoping you might be outside your house, for me to see.
If not, I wonder where it is that you might be.
If only you knew . . .
the many nights I play my records, feeling blue.
knowing that for you, I probably do not exist,
and only in my dreams, have we ever kissed.
