Give Me Back Yesterday
Not much will I say
for we dare not listen to their pleas
urging us to remain and watch
while at the other end children are orphaned
where is the weaver
come and dissolve this union
for its usefulness is long gone
Forward is not always better;
We want to have our home back.
Separate husbands' and fathers' footsteps;
from that of soldiers.
Death lives next door;
our farmlands have become deserts.
Give me back yesterday;
So that I wouldn't have to name my child before
eight days
or at least;
to prepare him for today.
