BLACK FRIDAY.....the biggest and most bizarre shopping day in the US is the start of the Christmas shopping season.

BLACK AND BLUE FRIDAY First – the carbo-loading monster meal to sustain the beast that drives the cornerstone of greed in mindless hunt for “bargains”. Next – jockeying for position awaiting the starter’s pistol explosion of coupon bearers storming the gates of ….greed pursuing an empty, endless, need. Feint right, fake left, bob and weave position, position, timing shuffle-step, reverse pivot head fake and twist, break right aisle 6, electronics, end zone – score!!! Crazy dance, fire works, no flags thrown, no penalties. Game over. Ice and ibuprofen, rest and recuperation. AH, the joy of BLACK (AND BLUE) FRIDAY. John G. Lawless 11/21/2017

Black and Blue Friday is a dead on theory of what black friday really is. We are a consumer driven society. Buy, buy, buy. A beautifully written piece with a scrumptious flare for descriptive play by play. Both humourus and serious.

I can truly say I have never once gone to a Black Friday... I am not an early bird and my slumber is more important then to receive a gun to my face because I got to something first and the other person wanted it. Hugs Eve ~`*

Your witty words made me smile, I love your dry humour in this poem John and the title is very apt ! I'd not heard of this day until last year now it seems to have spread and UK shops are showing bargains that few will be able to purchase unless they camp outside the store all night and have American Football gear on to get through the door lol. We want for nothing, my hubbies cancer made us appreciate what really is important, and that's your health not material things. hugs jan xx
