Janette Fisher's Blog

Janette Fisher's Biography
My name is Janette and I was born and raised in a small city in England called Carlisle. It is 9 miles from the scottish border and Gretna Green where everyone including myself is married. I have had no formal creative writing tutoring but have written in one form or another since I was a small girl. Mostly I write for the love of it. I particularly enjoy writing poetry and have had pieces published in a few anthologies and would love to publish my own anthology this year. I have also been experimenting with short stories since joining a writing group 18 months ago. I have submitted some pieces for publication and have had one piece accepted to date. My ultimate writing goal is to write a novel and have just finished the research for a childrens book based around pirates and ghosts. Hopefully 2010 will be the year when it is completed. I have two daughters, 24 and 27 respectively, one still at home and one living in Sheffield in Yorkshire and I was married to to my beloved husband Billy for 17 yrs until february this year (2010) when he passed away after a 3 year battle with cancer. My motto is Carpa Deum (seize the day), even more so now that Billy has passed away, if that has taught me one thing, it is to live in the present and never rest on your laurels. I have been in administration and finance for most of my working life and currently work as an administrator for a Social Enterprise Project that provides training and education for adults with learning disabilities.
