Jim Fish's Biography

Born into the third generation of a ranching family, I am the last of them to live the life. I presently live in Ozona, Texas, about 15 miles from where I began. Don't know why... it's just worked out that way. Life's been generous and its been stingy, reckon it depends on the mood I happen to be in at the time.

Poetry has been my main form of expression all my adult years and accompanied me (as one would assume) through every conceivable experience, great and small. It has opened many and varied doors for me and has taken my breath away on several occasions.

Presently employed in the petroleum industry, I work daily in the area I've lived and ranched most of my life. Kinda neat to be working a gas well and see a spot just a few yards away where you got throwed off a horse or find you're in a pasture where you gatherd stock most of your life. I've learned that is isn't so much your experiences that dictate the quality of your life as it is the memories you chose to fit into the mosaic of your life.

I am married thirty years, have three children, and 6 grandchildren. We had the opportunity to raise our kids on a ranch in a very historic part of Texas and still communicate with them daily, even though they are spread-out a mite. Our oldest son is in Seminole, our daughter lives in Dallas and our youngest lives at Fort Bragg (with his wife and daughter), awaiting deployment to Afganistan. We cannot measure the pride and love we have for our children... it lays upon our lives like beauty on a spring morning.

You may visit my site, if you like. I am an eternal optimist and subscribe to a motto I penned several years ago... "Happiness is a skill to be mastered and shared." ~<><
