CANCER

~Yash Agrawall

I’m not doing quite well,
Dying off this cancerous hell.
Coughing out blood,
Loving its taste afterwards.

Used to smoke a hundred packets a day.
Wasn’t able to control the urge anyway.
Now the doctor says
Nothing can be done.
And in my last days
I’m being a burden.

Went to the barber to shave off my hair.
At first he stared, then he shaved his own hair.
Everyone is taking so much care,
While drowning in the ocean of despair.

Coughing and losing my breath;
Chemo can only delay death,
Taking hundred pills a day,
Losing muscles and losing weight.

Wish I’d learned my lesson earlier,
Wish I’d chosen to be healthier;
Wish I didn’t go for the second burn,
Should have addressed to people’s concern.
