puppies come in colors

all so warm and kind

licking skin to show affection

puppy eyes shine bright

puppies warm the coldest person

don’t chill the dark of night

no, puppies are a good thing

make our lives so nice

people come in colors too

their warmth comes from smiles

as they say “good day to you sir”

so glad you’re in my life

you see, it isn’t color

that makes a character

‘tis what they give to strangers

when passing through this world

but some believe violence

can be justified

a false assumption realized
by those without much pride

for any good religion
would eject chaff right now
and not let them use excuses
to harm a mother's child

while championing a cause
as no good cause sanctions hate
for every puppy has a color
as do also human races
