MY METAMORPHOSIS

As fertile egg in pond I stay
till, by magic, a nymph one day.
Then comes new instinct to tempt me
to break my tether and go free.
From murky depth of birthplace pond
it’s time to leave for world beyond.
Onto a tall plant stem I cling
and towards daylight start climbing.
Soon I breathe air and see sunlight
then final moult comes as a fright
for now emerge two wings each side.
A strange feeling in me reside.
No longer nymph. Now adult be.
Up in the blue I now am free.
