SHE

She looks down her nose
At the locals in the town square
As she sips tea from her fine china cup
Pinky in the air

Criticising and complaining
Judging one and all
Negativity runs through her veins
Only she matters….all others insignificant and small

In the evening in the seclusion of her mansion
She sits by the fire wine glass in hand
Surrounded by her riches
Alone in her own wealthy land

In her empty home
With her empty soul
She sits alone in silence
As her tears overflow

Those who are too critical of others and who hold a feeling that they alone are worthy, will ultimately suffer in life being left too lonely. You have laid down a great lesson that humaneness and the ability to get along with others are qualities to enhance one's happiness. A poem with a great message. Congratulations Deb on your POTD

Belated congratulations on your POTD honor Deb! Excellent observations on those who value riches before people. That mansion with all of its finery is pretty lonely without friends and family to fill it with love and laughter. Wonderful rhyme scheme and the language of your theme is fresh and original. Truly money can change people. So happy for your honor! Blessings!

It is hard to imagine such one dimensional intolerance exists, but your poem calls it. Any chance of some Charles Dickens style redemption, Deb, in part two? Enjoy your POTD C :)

What an amazing ending to this poem. Surely there is a deficient that makes her behave that way as you clearly portray. Great write. Congrats on POTD.

So sad. Those that put on an outward show that they are high above everyone else, are truly feeling empty on the inside. Your thoughts caress gently around me and my heart. Congratulations Deb, on Poem of the Day. My best to you. Hugs, Brandy

Dear Deb, I liked how you offer a poetic glimpse into the loneliness and emptiness that can lurk beneath the façade of wealth and privilege. Your poem serves as a powerful message of the importance of empathy, compassion, and genuine connection in a world often dominated by superficiality and materialism. Deb, this is a thought-provoking reflection on the complexities of human nature. - Blessings, my friend, Daniel

Congratulations on your POTD win. I enjoyed reading your wonderful "SHE" write. "Love This One" The question is....why are there so many people like this??? Looks down their nose, Judging all, Negativity, Only they matter. Enjoy your day/week with your wonderful win.............

Hooray! So pleased to see your name here once again for POTD my sweet, caring friend. Many congratulations. This is so poignant and well written. I read it several times. The last stanza is so profound,’ In her empty home with her empty soul’. You sort of feel sorry for such a character but the old saying, ‘ As you sow, so shall you reap’ springs to mind. Another thought provoking and reflective read from your radiant pen dear Deb. Enjoy your celebratory day. You deserve it. Hugs, smiles :):) xx

BIG congrats on POTD, Deb. Sad story but true to life. Enjoy your special day today.
Date: 5/13/2024 5:55:00 AM

None of us should pass judgement on each other. She'd not be lonely and in tears if she'd made a pinky promise to herself to stop being such a hoity toity and stop raising that finger while sipping her Earl Grey. There's not an ounce of that kind of character in you, my sweet Aussie friend. POTD looks good on you, Deb. Hugs!
Date: 5/13/2024 5:35:00 AM

Date: 5/13/2024 4:33:00 AM

Dear Deb, First of all, congratulations. for getting POTD for such a stellar poem. I just loved the image of the woman you created, it makes me wonder what lurks beneath the surface. Is her coldness a facade to hide a deeper loneliness? The contrast between her outward portrayal of superiority and the emptiness you describe in her grand home is chilling. Makes you think about what truly matters in life. - Congrats again! Blessings, Daniel
