When Silence Speaks

I languish in the cherished sound
of winter’s chill and summer’s haze
where memories of youth abound
when silence speaks of bygone days.

I search the seasons long since gone
to reminisce another time
where memories still linger on
when silence speaks in verdant rhyme.

Each whisper through the wind redeems
those songs that I had sung before,
where memories instill my dreams
when silence speaks in rhythmic lore.

I sojourn through this mired abyss
in search of days from yesteryear
and as they vanish in the mist,
when silence speaks, they reappear.

The sounds that once had filled the past,
my weary soul forever seeks.
Though memories tend not to last
they all return when silence speaks.

this is what i refer to as a classically well written poem, the cadence and rhythm echoing the actual wording - congrats on your placement in the contest
