Two Friends Were Walking

Two Friends...
were walking one day when a third man joined them.
The stranger asked the first friend "why are you so unhappy?"
The first friend said, "because our politicians are so corrupt."
"How so," asked the stranger.
"They break the law. They own the cops. They can afford expensive lawyers, and they pay off the judges. They never get what they deserve," the first friend responded.
"That's terrible," said the stranger. "Would you say you are a good person" asked the stranger.
"I do. I think I am a good person," said the first friend. "I follow all the rules, and if I break a rule, I own up to my mistakes, and I always try to do the right thing."
"That's good," said the stranger. "And how about you?," asked the stranger to the second friend, "why are you so happy?"
The second friend answered, "because, You, my Lord, walk with me, and I know I am forgiven."
"Then, you are truly blessed," said the Lord, "and may you continue to be a blessing to others."

Old and testament new:
   the later is by faith,
the prior of what one can do.

It is said:
  the first shall be last,
the last shall be first.

Of the blessed cup
  that is passed
they deeply thirst.

But one by task
   and by works.

And the other by faith
   and trusting treasure.

To whom, I ask...
  sincerely honors authority,
to dispense judgment measured,
and be fully glad in it?
