Thomas Lee Rhymes Poem
in recovery
that's what they will tell you
"He's in recovery, nothing more to say."
They would love to end the conversation at that point.
in recovery
but from what or from whom, are the questions needing clarification
i gave it everything i could gather
poems, songs, misplaced humor
my love, my soul, my essence
in recovery
i might have given my life, luckily i found a way out of that
but, im still in a prison of innuendos, and sleight of hands
the trick was on me, the joke was on me too
so, im still here, waiting for my next round of heavy meds
those lovely cloth straps and the extra pillows
im
in recovery

Thomas Lee Rhymes Poem
The Refraction of Your Gaze
The prism of your Rejection is held before me
colors, breaking apart
to pierce my heart
with their meaning,
entering,
becoming:
the Violet of Penitence
though I seek not forgiveness
the Blue of Piety and Sadness
the one color true
the Green of Faith and Envy
my eternal hope and your selfish desire
the Yellow of Jealousy and Fear
which neither of us may ever erase
the Orange of Fruitfulness
wherein Love once grew, fragrant and sweet
the Red of Martyrs and Anger
death of the innocent, whose blood-color is as rage
projected from the Black Void of
your false Spirit, I am pierced as
you gaze beyond me, as though I were
a weak and fading spectrum
already dead
already powdered nothingness
Why must you
see me
through these colors
when I looked upon you with
the clear light of Love?

Thomas Lee Rhymes Poem
You look at me
as if to say
"Tonight, I'll be with you."
And my heart leaps
a thousand times
to think I'm getting through
to your caress
the happiness
I'll find, inside, your arms
While other men
must try again
Some other night
some other night
For, you are mine tonight
you are mine, this time
you will be, alone with me
for, you are mine tonight
The setting sun
has left us one
the moon will rise
to find us
Alone at last
at last, with you
with your Lover's eyes
I look at you
as if to say
"Tonight was heavenly."
And your heart leaps
a thousand times
to think I'm getting through
to your caress
the happiness
you've found, inside, my arms
While other men
must try again
Some other night
some other night
For, you are (were) mine tonight
you are (were) mine, this time
you will be (were), alone with me
for, you are (were) mine tonight

Thomas Lee Rhymes Poem
if it's not love
what has it become
once, we were the ones
who left the others in awe
of our passion, our nearly lethal dose
of lust and complete abandon
now, the linens are barely ruffled
the room smells of soap and softeners
our days are spent in silence
in the worries of the world that
has stolen the souls of lovers
gone before, gone forever
if it's not love
what has it become

Thomas Lee Rhymes Poem
into your soul it burrows deep
into your mind when you're asleep
into your thoughts for you to keep
it will become a part of you
and when the evening settles still
and Time is but a whippoorwill
then suddenly you'll feel the chill
it will become a part of you
try, you may, to end your plight
to swallow it with just one bite
it gurgles in your stomach tight
it will become a part of you
though you've prayed the fervent prayer
to juggle Life into the air
leaving no one, not one in despair
it will become a part of you
in youth, we can not see The End
in middle age, we will pretend
and, at the closing, we will defend
that Death, became a part of you

Thomas Lee Rhymes Poem
there is a world
in which I live
where none may walk
where none may breathe
only I have the air
the light with which to see
there is a world
where Love is cold
and flowers never bloom
where sunlight is but a dimmed candle
and music is swallowed by the
far off screams of the doomed
I awake in this world
every morn, with
every day the very same
as the day before, and
every night a dark, sealed coffin
a jar, in which I'm stored
in this world
there is not peace
nor kindness, nor softness
for you have placed me
in this world, adrift in
in loveless madness
in the longing for you

Thomas Lee Rhymes Poem
i've tried to express my fears
the inescapable end to you
i'm trying now, but am i clearly getting through
it's not suicide i'm thinking of
it's just the unknown
crawling through the night
creeping down the hall
in my hot impulsive stirrings of yesterday
i've traveled many nights to be with others
borrowed money and shifted blame
to anything i could imagine, whether it was real or not
it's just that the unknown
crawling through the night
creeping down the hall
is more than I alone can stand
i needed someone, i needed you
to share my fears
and cool my stirrings
and bring me full circle, into the light
to reveal the unknowns
sending them down the hall
crawling and creeping to their own
inescapable end

Thomas Lee Rhymes Poem
sing me a tom petty tune
sing a bad company yarn
i've got my place in time
i'm set for the duration
i can't help falling in love
so take my hand, you've got
my whole life too
some things are meant to be
isn't this one of them?
let's just go to the cabin down below
would it be a sin?
you know, i can't stop biting you
the back of your neck
your ample butt
that spot behind your knee caps
i'd like that, an evening of lips on flesh
if not for my careless heart
we'd be there already and not
standing here wondering
let's just go to the cabin down below
close our eyes and find our way
to the cabin down below
you're simply awesome
no more love on the run
time to slow down
wait for the moment
dream of the moment
grab the moment
and take that walk
on the wild side
listen! isn't that David Sanborn's Carly's Song?
there's no fear here
nothing but sweet saxophones
and even sweeter sex
talk to me, tell me all the things you want
to find in your life
i'll be here, just outside the door
holding my heart in my hand

Thomas Lee Rhymes Poem
i bear the scars of Roman rage
punishment for my belief
the scholars will not turn a page
without my sorrow and my grief
for I am here, the prophet's claims
a once mentioned Witness
to the pain
i'll carry in my breast
i wander on the sands
in the mountains, on the seas
i listen to no one's commands
i am simply me
and i will be here at The End
when the trumpet sounds
upon the eastern wind
and opened graves will abound
by then, i will have seen it all
i will have taken earth's terrors
and witnessed Man's Fall
the human comedy of human errors
i will seek retreat
beyond the Heavenly Gates
to await my accounting complete
of your chosen Fate
( Revelation 11 )

Thomas Lee Rhymes Poem
if the rain were to fall
and the sky were to bubble in clouds
would you return to me
would you clean the wounds of my life
and sacrifice some of your soul for my own
what is it in this world
that hardens our hearts and strangles love
we have died every day among the beauty
yet, we are drawn to the ugliness of sin
to willingly burn in the candle's flame
if i had lived pure
would you give in and carry
me to places i've only dreamed of
caress me as a child and
love me as a lover from your past
bring forth the packets of pain, gather among us
in a reunion of regret, in a sea of solitudes
as the rain begins to fall from the bubbling clouds
washing the dust from our spirits as we rise
forever and forever free
