Eyes Like a Pot of Honey

today i sat down on my phone,
hoping to find something fun,
but instead to find something to make my mind run,
longing for something that would make it slow down,
at least to a jog,
when i saw your name my heart began to pound,
a rhythm to make your breathing heavy and your back weak,
where you fold like a piece of string and fall into a sleep,
a slumber you never seem to wake up from but still somehow learn to sleepwalk through life,
i can never seem to get you out of my head,
as soon as i think i’m over you somehow all the memories seem to come back to me,
the night where i saw you for the first time in what felt like an eternity,
even though we were little i never forgot your smile and deep brown eyes,
eyes you could get lost in,
eyes like a pot of honey,
the honey that gets stuck on your fingers you can never get off,
just like you,
stuck in my head like honey.

The Beach

At the Beach, people play in the sand and watch the waves go by.

Maybe they will take a stroll on the boardwalk by the shore.

Or binging on taffy, a childhood dream.

Back To Back Then

dandelions and honey,
trees and the red fire truck jungle gym,
ice cream, the lake, pink ball.
take me back to back then.
white house’s and big windows,
my doll house, that one back road.
please take me back to back then.
the red door next door,
my family.
please just one more day back to where everything was simple and sweet,
please oh please take me back to back then.

See You Later

you are gone from my life but not from my memory,
its no longer see you later,
your schedule changed and mine did too,
no longer do i see you walk to football with your too heavy bag strapped on your back,
not thinking about me.
music in our ears,
drowning each other out for different reasons,
walking away,
you are gone from my life but you will never be gone from my memory,
i hope to see you later.

Weather Haiku

changing very fast,
weather unpredictable
bringing winds that crash.

The Way You Love Me

god i love you
the way you look
the way you act
the way you are you
there are millions of reasons as to why i love you
but the main one is,
the way you love me,
the way you love me makes me feel like i’m dancing on clouds,
leaping back and forth losing my balance and falling down just so you can catch me and put me back onto my feet,
the way you do every time,
reassuring me everything will all be okay even when i feel as if it never will be.

Longing For May

The snowflakes tickled my nose as I walked home from school that day,
I laughed thinking of how May is so far away.
When the snow wouldn’t be here,
And I could finally be able to see clear.
The snow sang a sad song,
Even though it wouldn’t be long till the birds would be singing their song.
The snow was as white as the paper I was writing on not that long ago that day,
Hoping to get my work done before I would be sent home until the next day.
When hopefully the snow would be gone when we could all play,
In the green grass that we see in May

Us

I wish that we could talk the way that we used to,
where you would say something and make my heart flutter, or skip a beat.
But now it’s not the same, well at least like it used to be.
It’s the same identical responses every time.
I look forward to your call every night but somehow still don’t get one.
As I sit here writing this, you are probably asleep.
Not even thinking about me, like I think about you.
Thinking how you are the only person I want to see tomorrow and the last person I want to talk to.
But that will never happen.
You have left me on read for the last time and I have given up.
The words come easier than before and I think it is because my brain has given up. It has decided that I don’t need to continue down this dark path that I navigate through blindly.
Hoping to come out the other end in one piece.
But somehow every time another piece gets chipped off and my heart breaks slowly. I have given up on us, our friendship.
But I know that an “us” was never a possibility to you.
It was something you never thought would happen.

Giving Godly Grace

Giving the strength he puts inside me to others,
Inside me is the grace that he has bestowed upon me,
Very deeply gracious for the courage that I have been given,
I share my love for Jesus through the things I do each day,
Not very often do I have doubts that he does not love me,
Guessing that I have the thoughts to right my wrongs.

God only knows the plans he has for me as I prepare for my future,
Only hoping that they are the ones to guide me towards the holy place,
Deemed the holy place for the ones that live there,
Living there is an honor to the people who are chosen,
Your life is held dearly to his heart as he watches over you.

Gracing my life with the opportunity to know him,
Rarely feeling discouraged by life,
As the clock runs out and I lose the time I have here on Earth,
Carefully deciding my choices in life,
Even if the time comes I know that he loves me.

Always There

“As the prairie winds blow past me at dawn,
I can see the sun peaking over the mountains.”
he says to me quite certainly,
with a look on his face that said he had always and will always be there.
