For You

I do and will love you, as the sun loves the moon.
I will die every night, to ensure you breathe every day.

The Wish

I waited so long, yet no one came.
I stood and watched, and no one saw me.
I walked in time and space, yet no one followed.
I dreamed, and now you are here.

Dust

. Dust is strewn
        in city streets.
          It is broken
      bottles of empty
      glass that have
        faded so dim.
         As the sun
  shown through clouds
      of Dust, strewn
       in city streets,
      bottles lain broken,
       glass of brown,
        strewn so calmly,
       so cruelly cold,
      now tis gone,
         though there its
      shadow does remain.

Snow, Like You

I saw a snowflake drift silently past my window . . .
and I watched as it danced and turned . . .
It was so real ~
so full of life!
Finally, I could stand it no longer.
I swung wide my window and let it float in.
            It melted away . . .
I was left with a beautiful memory ~
a drop of water on my fingertip, my lips.

I couldn’t understand how it could have changed . . .
so quickly, so silently . . .
I only wanted to reach out to it ~
and care for it.
    Yet alas,
         a snowflake . . .
             as you,
               must be touched
                  gently.

Memento Mori

One day, someday, man will awake.
He will find the time of his mistake.
He will turn and cry at his defeat.
On how he’s made this world so bleak.
Yes, he will cry & try to make amends.
Yet what’s done is done & tis the end.

Enticing Hearts

It interests me, to interest you.
To think about, what you think of.
As I want you, please want me too.
To feel the rain, to feel the love.
Is there an outside chance for a dance, with you?
Is there a drop of dew, that you want me too?
Is there an ember of lite for a nite, with you?
Is there a breath of time, to believe you're mine?

Sorrow Still Lingers

It hasn’t been so long, you know.
Since I saw, your eyes aglow.
. . . They smiled a little smile for me.

You had your joy, you had your fun.
You had fifteen seasons in the sun.
. . . I didn’t know that you would leave me.

The backyard swing still sways lonely.
Since the day you rode it boldly.
. . . Save a swing sway there for me.

The more and more I think about you.
There was magical love all around you.
. . . The room is now empty, except for me.

Your love is in the trees, wind and snow.
Yes in the streams when I watch them flow.
. . . Heartache and regret, still follow me.

I’m sorry, I never spoke of the little details.
You were so busy with songs and puppy dog tails.
. . . I wish it were, six carryin’ me.

Written for a girl of nearly four. My son was born at the same time my lady friend had twin girls born, and I babysat all 3 quite often. One girl had neuroblastoma [cancer of the blood] and so I also helped them for her last 2 years, Kristen always had a smile, even as she lay with her body of orange, slowly passing.

Autumn

The leaves of autumn, glide gently down,
dancing softly, to the deep green ground.
The cool dry air, makes them smell sweet,
as a breeze whirls them, at your feet.

As night falls upon them, their color fades,
by one in the morning, they’re black as spades.
Frost at daybreak, turns them bright white,
by noon their color, is back in sun light.

The trees are bare now, except for the greens,
which make the loveliest, of autumn scenes.
With leaves at their feet, of red, orange & yellow,
and patches of green, could just make a fellow
forget all his thoughts, watching from the ground,
the leaves of autumn, glide gently down.

Let Me Show You

Winter drew near, its drifting wind calling,
the wind did not touch me, until she appeared.
I remember that nite, I felt I was falling,
memories met then, I feared they mirrored.
My words failed to explain my feelings inside,
and the past rushed forward to mist my eyes.
If she should ever dream, that I lied,
the pain would ever linger, never die.
I understand this woman, I believe in her song,
and nite after nite, I’m searching for mercy.
Yet cruel is the morning with its shadow so long,
that the answer I seek, is so close, it hurts me.
    Is she only lonely, occasionally,
or desires the warmth of a silken body?
Her hands are tight with fear, I fear,
oh how I wish I could hold her near!
Is it only by nite, in the lite of the moon,
can she release her words, or is she jejune?
I will sit again by the garden wall,
and patiently wait for her to call.

Sorrow Isn't Forever, Love Is

It is the setting of the dawn.
I sit and wonder why she’s gone.
The time has gone so slow, yet fast.
I recall her in the evening grass.
Seeing her playing with rejoice.
I hear her laughing, gleeful voice.
The misty days, the foggy nights,
The stars don’t shed any light.
I wake to find the sun is gone.
It has been the setting dawn.
She will leave come the morn.
I will cry, and be heart-torn.
I wake again and see the sun.
Now I know it’s all undone.
I stand and slowly walk away.
She’s made me smile, even by her grave.

Now . . . when I hear the falling snow
and all is hushed where ever I go,
Kristen shall be sleeping.
The Holy Star its vigil keeping.

Sleep Kristen, sleep.
The nite is peaceful all around you.
Close your eyes, let sleep surround you.
Dream Kristen, dream.
Of the happy days that will come.

While Guardian Angels without number,
watch you as you sweetly slumber,
remember,
we love you Kristen,
Love you.
