Written: April 28, 2024, For Constance la France Contest "One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life. The word is love. Sophocles, Greek Poet
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One word cures all life's queries and distress, While we indulge in our quest toward bliss. Pure, lush love imparts delight and success, Amidst life's winding path, may run amiss. Love protects us from dread and disarray, Serve awful time, lead us across the storm. Love allows us to face fear and dismay, Merry love is merely drawn in free form. Embrace who allows us to tame our fears, The fleeting light of our souls burns all time. And foster kinship, swipe nerve-wracking tears, We cry such babies, dull for bliss, sublime. We descry solace in qualm and sadness, While we sink in state of auric aptness.
SP, I love how as I read this, it was not exactly what I expected. I had to read it several times. While love can help us get through the difficult times, you give me the impression it's not a miracle cure. You make me reflect that life is a mixed blessing with many ups and downs. You are so very thought provoking!!
"Love protects us from dread and disarray, Serve awful time, lead us across the storm. Love allows us to face fear and dismay, Merry love is merely drawn in free form." Love is best defined through these lines. Love is the panacea to all human ills. It is true that love swipes away nerve wracking tears. Your rhyming is perfect. So you'll always be so good at sonnets. I am sure Constance will love this. All the best dear friend.
a beautifully written Sonnet and a perfect one for Constance's contest. As I look at your poem, I think I misinterpreted part of her instructions. Will need to look at my submission. I struggle with creating Sonnets anyway...sigh. Loved your 8-line verse the best. Best wishes with the contest.
- Love can have many storms that we fear, but as you say we can tame the fear and become stronger ... a beautiful and meaningful sonnet, Las :) - I find English rhyming difficult ... there will be no participation in this contest : ) - Best wishes for a top win for you :) - hugs
