Time in Motion
Music played at night Up and down the streets of town Stages stood vacant No musicians could be found Some thought they're echoes From the parties of the past And no one believed That the music would e'er last Was a marching band That played tunes in days gone by They are but hist'ry And no one can tell you why Just a few pictures Lay fading in archives Maybe there's a few With whom their mem'ry survives Somewhere in a park Players come from fields of corn They had played the game Before today's stars were born Though they're oft' forgot They still play there once a year I've often wondered If they hear spectators cheer Time is but motion Memories are put to test Things will be recalled While so much is put to rest There's a whole lot more Left hanging in the clouds Now left to others To bring them to the crowds
